Cardiothoracic Surgery

Professor Alistair Royse is the acting Head of Surgery, The University of Melbourne, The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Director eLearning Technologies at Melbourne Medical School, University of Melbourne. He is also the co-CEO of the Ultrasound Education Group and Mobile Learning Unit at the University of Melbourne. His cardiothoracic surgery practice includes Coronary Bypass surgery focusing on arterial conduit revascularisation. Professor Royse has a strong interest in total arterial coronary bypass surgery, radial artery use, echocardiography and clinical ultrasound training, epidural analgesia in cardiac surgery, valve repair, and pacemaker implantation. He has been integral in the introduction of the use of arterial coronary bypass grafts and complex arterial reconstructions in Australia.
