Doctor Tracey was born and raised on the Gold Coast. He graduated from Medicine at the University of Queensland in 1998 and gained his
Urological fellowship qualifications in 2009, having additional training in general surgery along the way. In 2006, he was awarded a Masters
of Philosophy for his research into dendritic cell immunotherapy for prostate cancer.
Following his Urology training in Queensland, he completed a 20 month uro-oncology fellowship in London, working at Charing Cross
Hospital and the University College Hospital, where he gained further experience in cancer surgery and trained in robotic surgery.
He returned to the Gold Coast in 2011, taking up a VMO position at the Gold Coast University Hospital, as well as commencing private
practice. Following his return, he performed the first laparoscopic pyeloplasty and laparoscopic partial nephrectomy at GCUH and
initiated the robotic surgical programme at the Gold Coast Private Hospital.
Dr Tracey additionally has a keen interest in reconstructive surgery and incontinence / dysfunctional voiding. He is the only urologist who performs urodynamics on the Gold Coast and the only urologist with a dedicated interest in complex treatments for incontinence
(intravesical Botox therapy, sacral neuromodulator insertion, fascial slings). He additionally has an interest in complex pelvic organ
prolapse management and is one of a handful of surgeons in Australia that performs robotic sacrocolpopexies.
In addition to his sub-specialty interests, Dr Tracey consults in general urology (stone disease, BPH, prostate cancer management etc).
