Dr David Muirhead

Dr David Muirhead is a consultant psychiatrist with experience across a broad range of mental health disciplines. 

Dr Muirhead obtained his medical degree from Monash University in 1985, graduating with Honours. He has been working in the field of Psychiatry for over 20 years and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (RANZCP) in 2000.

Dr Muirhead brings a broad range of clinical experience to his practice, having worked in many areas of psychiatry including community psychiatry, crisis assessment, acute inpatient and rehabilitation. His public career has involved extensive experience in providing leadership within clinical service delivery and until recently he was the Director of Clinical Services for the North West Area Mental Health Service.

Dr Muirhead’s areas of particular experience and interest include psychoses and mood disorders, anxiety disorders including PTSD, substance use and personality disorders. He provides a combination of pharmacological and psychological treatment approaches.
