George’s particular clinical interests include the diagnosis of undifferentiated presentations, the appropriate use of diagnostic testing, and minimally disruptive medicine for patients with multiple medical problems.
His subspecialty expertise encompasses both acute infections in hospitalised patients and chronic or recurrent infections managed on an outpatient basis. After graduating with honours from the University of Melbourne Medical School in 2009, George completed his training in internal medicine and infectious diseases at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. He was the recipient of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Medal in 2013.
George has completed a PhD addressing the management of bloodstream infection, and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Ultrasound from the University of Melbourne. Areas of active research include the management of bloodstream infections and endocarditis, and the appropriate duration of antibiotic therapy for common infections.
