Dr Hazem Akil is an Australian trained neurosurgeon with unique global experience. He underwent his post graduate surgical training
in the UK (Edinburgh, London) and was granted a full membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2004.
Following this, Dr Akil moved t- Australia t- further pursue his surgical sub-specialty career where he enrolled in the Royal
Australasian College of Surgeons neurosurgical training program. During many years of training Dr Akil gained valuable experience in
major neurosurgical units in both Sydney and Melbourne and was awarded a Royal Australasian College of Surgeons neurosurgical
fellowship.
Dr Akil has gone on t- obtain further intensive training in complex spine surgery as part of the prestigious AOSpine fellowship under
the guidance of Dr Geoffrey Askin in Brisbane, Queensland. With a special interest in diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders and
peripheral nerves disease, Dr Akil’s philosophy is that surgical management should be tailored and personalised, he believes every
patient is a special case.
