Professor James Tatoulis is Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and of Cardiac Services at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Melbourne Health, Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Melbourne and Chief Medical Adviser to the National Heart Foundation of Australia. A Cardiac Surgeon of 32 years, with an international reputation, particularly in the surgical treatment of coronary artery disease, and has performed over 12,000 major heart operations. He has a major interest in post graduate training, and in clinical research (with 140 peer reviewed publications), and in establishing and evaluating new techniques in heart surgery, especially by less invasive approaches.
