Associate Professor John Laidlaw provides expert neurosurgical care for a wide range of conditions affecting the brain, spine and peripheral nerves. He is recognised nationally and internationally as a leader in the field of cerebrovascular surgery (particularly for aneurysms, AVM and bypass for moyamoya) and also has extensive experience and expertise in the management of brain tumours, trigeminal neuralgia and spinal conditions (particularly complex cervical spine surgery).
For 9 years until 2017 he held the position of Chair of the Board of Surgical Education and Training (Neurosurgical SET Board) for the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia (NSA) and The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and was a member of the Board of the NSA and also the Board or Surgical Education and Training for RACS. He was awarded the NSA medal in 2017.
He holds the appointment of Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Melbourne.
