Dr Louis Shidiak is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with subspecialty interests in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty (anterior hips), Sports injuries including ACL reconstruction and hip preservation.
Dr Shidiak graduated medicine (MBBS) from the University of Sydney and spent his junior years at Liverpool hospital. His undergraduate degree was Physiotherapy (B. Appl Science), which he practised for five years, rehabilitating orthopaedic and sports injuries, highlighted by work with soccer and athletes at the 2000 Olympics. He completed advanced orthopaedic training (FRACS Orth) in Sydney and followed this with fellowships in Sydney (lower limb arthroplasty) and Switzerland (hip preservation surgery).
Dr Shidiak is the author of numerous articles, published in well-respected peer review journals, including Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research (CORR).
Dr Shidiak also treats young adults with hip pathology that is amenable to preservation. Such treatments include hip arthroscopy and safe surgical dislocation to address joint pathology and delay the onset of arthritis.
Dr Shidiak is the Chief Medical Officer for the Parramatta Eels National Rugby League (NRL) Club and has been affiliated with this club for over 15 years.
