Dr Michael Devadas

Dr Michael Devadas is a specialty trained Upper Gastrointestinal surgeon who is passionate about providing the highest level of care for his patients. He specialises in stomach and oesophageal cancer surgery, anti-reflux surgery, hernia surgery and bariatric (weight-loss) surgical procedures, using endoscopic, laparoscopic (keyhole) and minimally invasive techniques.

Dr Devadas obtained his Fellowship in General Surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2012, then completed advanced training in gastro-oesophageal surgery through the highly competitive, Australia and New Zealand Gastro-Oesophageal Association. He gained his medical degree from Sydney University with honours and also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Medical Radiation Science, Nuclear Medicine from Sydney University.

Dr Devadas has extensively trained as a surgeon at Westmead, Liverpool, Nepean, Coffs Harbour, Orange, Broken Hill and Royal North Shore hospitals in general and acute surgical conditions, as well as trauma surgery. 

As a member of the Academy of Surgical Educators, he is an instructor of the Early Management of Severe Trauma course and has been an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons’ clinical examinations. He has been employed as a clinical academic in Nuclear Medicine by Sydney University and regularly contributes t- medical research papers and peer-reviewed journals.
