Dr M.Asif Shahzad completed his physician training in South Australia in 2014 and subsequently undertook advanced training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at various hospitals across Adelaide. He received extensive training in general gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease and liver diseases during this time and was awarded his fellowship (FRACP) in 2017.
Asif developed special interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) as well motility disorders of gut which led him to move to Brisbane to undertake further training as fellow at Princess Alexandra Hospital.
His interests include:
Inflammatory Bowel disease
Therapeutic endoscopy including colonoscopy for patients with positive FOBT, Endoscopic
mucosal resection of colonic polyps and Haemorrhoidal banding
Management of Gastrointestinal bleeding and Capsule endoscopy for iron deficiency anemia
General Hepatology
General gastroenterology including Coeliac disease, Heartburn (Reflux disease), Difficulty
swallowing (Dysphagia), Chronic Diarrhoea and Irritable bowel Syndrome.
