Dr Peter Fahmy is an Interventional Cardiologist with subspecialty training in Structural Cardiology. He undertook a PhD in gene therapy at the University of Sydney and was always drawn to interventional cardiology. He travelled to Vancouver Canada to undertake a Fellowship in Interventional and Structural Cardiology at Vancouver General and St Paul’s Hospitals, one of the most innovative and prestigious academic institutions. Dr Fahmy trained under the direction of Professor John Webb, the pioneer for percutaneous transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and Professor Jacqueline Saw, a world leader in Spontaneous Coronary Dissection and Left Atrial Appendage Closures.
Dr Fahmy is the head of the heart valve program at Norwest Private Hospital, and works with the heart valve team to ensure that eligible patients who need a transcatheter valve implantation (TAVI) is assessed thoroughly, and that they get the proper care and attention they need.
Dr Fahmy helps his patients understand what is happening in their bodies so that they can make decisions with confidence. He cares for patients with heart conditions, helping to guide them on the right path to health through education and explanation, so they, their family and carers feel confident about their decisions.
