Assoc. Professor Richard Williams is an orthopaedic surgeon whose practice solely focuses on disorders of the spine. With over 20 years of private and public practice, Dr Williams has worked across many areas including management of sporting spinal conditions with the Brisbane Broncos NRL team and research of rare spinal tumours through his work with a speciality group of 20 international surgeons who treat rare spinal cancers.
Not only does he maintain a busy private practice at Brisbane Private hospital, Dr Williams also is called upon from the Princess Alexandra Hospital (where he previously held the position of Director of Spinal Surgical Services) when expert advice regarding complex management of spinal tumours and all other rare spinal issues is needed.
In recent years, Dr Williams has been involved in a teaching role with the University of Queensland where he gained Associate Professor status. Dr Williams has also been involved in many other avenues of spinal treatment and research, such as: Co-ordinator of the AOSpine research Centre in Brisbane, past President of the Queensland Branch of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and has served as the Chairman of the Orthopaedic Continuing Education Committee.
