Dr Siddharth Sood’s interest in Hepatology was sparked as a medical student undertaking research into PBC - an epidemiology study which was subsequently published in the prominent journal Gastroenterology.
After completing residency and basic physicians training through the Austin Hospital, he completed specialty training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology through the Austin, Northern and Royal Melbourne Hospitals. This variety of hospitals provided a broad training in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy).
After specialist training, Siddharth completed a Doctorate of Philosophy through the University of Melbourne on immune function before and after liver transplantation. During this period he has had appointments as the Fellow with the Liver Transplant Unit Victoria, as well as a VMO at Northern and Austin Health.
In late 2014 Dr Siddharth Sood was recruited by Associate Professor Amanda Nicoll to replace her at Royal Melbourne Hospital and Melbourne Private after she was appointed Director of Gastroenterology at Eastern Health.
Dr Siddharth Sood is the Head of Hepatology at Royal Melbourne Hospital. He is a consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with experience managing gastrointestinal, liver, and endoscopic conditions. Dr Sood also manages several patients with rare liver diseases.
Dr. Sood sees private patients at Melbourne Private Hospital and Alphington Medical Centre and performs endoscopic procedures at Melbourne Private Hospital.
