Dr Chandran returned is an experienced gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist.

 

Expertise

Dr. Sujie Chandran undertook his medical education through Monash University in Melbourne Australia, where he graduated with honours.
He subsequently completed his basic training through Monash Health before pursing advanced training in gastroenterology through Launceston General Hospital and Austin Health. Dr Sujie completed his specialist training in 2012 and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

He followed his advanced training with a two-year endoscopy fellowship at Austin Health, where Dr Sujie undertook training in ERCP, EUS and interventional gastroscopy/colonoscopy.  During this time, he undertook a PhD through the University of Melbourne which he has submitted. The quality of his research was recognised by the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) through the award of a clinical scholarship. Dr Sujie has published extensively in world-renowned gastroenterology and endoscopy journals. He has also been nominated on multiple occasions for awards recognising the clinical and scientific impact of his studies.

Dr. Sujie completed a third year as an endoscopy fellow at the prestigious St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada. 

Dr Sujie became proficient in a range of procedures to manage complex gastrointestinal diseases, including removal of large gastrointestinal polyps from the oesophagus/stomach/duodenum and colon, the treatment of Barrett’s oesophagus, interventional endoscopic ultrasound in the management of pancreatic fluid collections/fiducial placement/cancer staging/coil embolization and anorectal disorders, ERCP and spyglass technology in the management of biliary strictures and complex stone disease.

He is actively engaged in providing patients with the highest quality of care, combined with the most up-to-date treatment strategies. Through his involvement at Austin Health, the State Endoscopy Training Centre, he trains Australia’s future endoscopists while remaining active in gastrointestinal research.
