Dr Sylvio Provenzano

Dr Sylvio Provenzano is an exam-qualified Cardiothoracic Surgeon by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). He specialises in cardiac, thoracic and congenital cardiac surgery.

Over his career, he acquired experience in various fields of cardiothoracic surgery: cardiac valve repair, including rheumatic mitral disease and aortic insufficiency; coronary surgery; surgery for endstage heart and lung disease, mechanical support and ECMO; minimal access surgery for aortic valve replacement and congenital defects; thoracic oncology, diseases of the aorta, congenital cardiac surgery and cardiac electrical stimulation.

Dr Provenzano finished his training in Brazil in 1998 and moved to Australia in 2002. He was appointed cardiothoracic surgeon at the Gold Coast University hospital in October 2014, and relocated with his family to the region soon thereafter.
